Ida Conrad



EAST BEND - Ida Pearl Slater Conrad, 87, of East Bend, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on September 17, 1921 to Adelbert and Pearl Taylor Slater. Mrs. Conrad was a lifelong member of Enon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Orman Conrad, Sr., three sisters, Ruth Brown, Mary Hauser, Elizabeth Jones and an infant sister Mabel Slater; and a brother, Daniel Slater.

Surviving are two daughters, Suellen Conrad (Warren) Cockerham of High Point and Frieda Conrad (Robert) Bostic of Mocksville; one son, Charles (Cathy) Conrad, Jr. of East Bend; one sister, Hazel Sanow of Nevada; one brother, William "Nip" Slater of East Bend; six grandchildren, Debbie Willis, Wayne Cockerham, Robert Bostic, Amanda Harper, Chip Conrad, and Carla Livengood; 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 5:00 PM at the Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 3:30 until 5:00 at Enon Baptist Church immediately prior to the funeral service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of clemmons Village I. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Enon Baptist Church Family Life Center, 6321 Old US 421, East Bend, NC 27018. Huff Funeral Home is serving the Conrad family.

LEXINGTON - Mildred Ann Swink Campbell, 70, of Clarksville, Va., formerly of Lexington, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, in Duke Medical Center.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

ASHEBORO - Hesbeth Virginia Hammonds Holdaway, 76, died Sept. 1, 2009.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kenneth Bullard.

LEXINGTON - Deborah Diane Hicks Vaughn, age 52 of Lazy River Dr., Lexington died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at her home after an extended illness.

A private service was held on Aug. 31, 2009.
